The United Nations Desertification Committee and the Green Foundation of China have appointed Mark as their image ambassador. The presentation ceremony was held on the sidelines of the UNECC Conference. The award recognizes individuals for their work in bringing awareness to desertification. “This is a big problem in developing countries like Kenya. I wrote about it in my first book, Nairobi to Shenzhen.” Mark wrote a special work of calligraphy for the occasion, using a quote from his book in traditional xin cao script.
